加拿大公司为航空航天供应商提供超大型钛合金转底锻造加热炉

[据本网站6月6日综合报道]近日,加拿大加英炉(Can-Eng Furnaces)国际有限公司受北美某航空航天供应商的委托定制一台直径约11米(36英尺)的盘式转底加热炉。该炉将被应用于生产大型固定翼飞机的钛基和镍基合金闭模结构锻件。

转底加热炉利用外部驱动器驱动将坯料直接输送到加热炉加热区域从而实现持续作业,这是加热多尺寸坯料的可靠方式。该加热炉具备先进的低NOx燃烧系统,能够满足最严格的环境和温度均匀性要求。特殊的双门设计为客户在现有的工厂布局中进行锻压操作提供了很高的灵活性。开放式的炉床构造可以进行灵活装载和均匀加热。该加热炉整合了低收缩率的陶瓷纤维内衬以及特制的旋转炉床驱动系统和密封系统,能够在全天候持续作业条件下处理约113.5吨(25万磅)坯料,并符合AMS2750E中的热性能要求,预计于2017年第三季度在美国投入使用。

在此前,该公司还与韦伯金属公司签约,将为计划于2017年底启动的6万吨级锻压机项目提供用于加热钛和合金坯料的环形加热炉,项目总投资1.7亿美元。该锻压机是美国最大的航空锻压设备,将为包括空中客车公司和波音公司在内的商用航空航天项目生产超大型镍基及钛基合金零件。(北方科技信息研究所  徐可)

Can-Eng Furnaces International Limited was contracted to commission a turnkey 36 ft. diameter “Pancake” style rotary hearth furnace for a leading North American Based aerospace supplier. The open hearth configuration allows for flexible loading and uniform heating. The furnace will be used in the production of large fixed wing aircraft Titanium and Nickel based alloy closed-die structure forgings.
The furnace system features an advanced low NOx combustion system designed to meet the most stringent environmental and temperature uniformity requirements. Special dual-door design provides the customer with significant flexibility for forging to press manipulation within in their existing plant layout. The system is capable of processing up to 250,000 pound load capacity in a 24/7 production environment. The furnace system complies with thermal performance requirements laid out in AMS2750E, integrates a low shrinkage ceramic fiber lining, unique rotating hearth drive and sealing system. The system is scheduled to be commissioned to the United States in the third quarter of 2017.

CAN-ENG Furnaces International Limited has been contracted to design, manufacture and commission a Rotary Furnace System for the heating and hot working of titanium and alloy billets and preformed shapes for Weber Metals Inc. of Paramount, California - Long Beach Facility. Weber Metals is a subsidiary of Otto Fuchs KG of Meinerzhagen, Germany and an operating unit of the Otto Fuchs Aerospace Group.
This large diameter Rotary Furnace is a part of Weber Metals’ 60,000 ton Press Expansion Project. The 60,000-ton press will allow Weber Metals to manufacture larger and lighter forgings utilizing more advanced materials and will incorporate the latest in green technology to reduce waste, energy consumption and increase efficiency. The new facility will house the largest aerospace forging press in the Americas making some of the world’s largest monolithic forging components. Can-Eng Furnaces International Limited is designing a rotary hearth furnace to heat titanium and alloy billets that it will install for Weber Metals Inc., Paramount, CA. The furnace installation is part of the $170-million capital investment centering on a new closed-die press that will forge extra-large nickel- and titanium-based alloy parts for commercial aerospace contracts, including Airbus and Boeing projects.
Niagara Falls, Ont.-based Can-Eng Furnaces did not detail the capacity or other design features of the furnace.
Rotary hearth furnaces are continuous operations in which charge material is conveyed directly over the furnace hearth on a turntable inside the heating chamber, powered by an external drive. They are considered to be a very reliable and sturdy way to heat multiple billet and/or bloom sizes. They are often designed as the central element of a continuous heating process, with programmable heating and automated billet handling
Weber Metals is a subsidiary of Germany’s Otto Fuchs KG, producing open-die and closed-die forgings in aluminum and titanium alloys, mainly for aerospace manufacturing, like aircraft fuselage and wing structures, as well as landing gears. Presently, the plant operates four open-die presses (rated at 1,200 to 5,000 tons) and five closed-die machines (rated at 1,500 to 33,000 tons.)
The 60,000-ton press is an SMS design described as “the largest aerospace forging press in the Western Hemisphere, and the largest in the world installed with private investment.” Start-up is planned for late 2017.
